Afterthoughts of my Oscar Afterthoughts… (Beware of Unpopular Opinions)

  • Rooney Mara should have won best actress (yep, I just decided that I needed to say it because it is what I honestly believe)
  • I have this horrible feeling that even if Gary Oldman is nominated for another oscar in the future, he won’t go to the ceremony to accept it because he is probably in Fuck The Academy Mode indefinitely.
     
  • and I have honestly tried not to be bitter about it, but here it goes. In all honesty I didn’t think The Artist was THAT good. Like yeah, it was a charming/heartwarming throwback to the old days of cinema. But COME on. It pandered to the Oscars so hard that it hurt. In many ways so did the other films that were nominated. But those films were STILL better to me (besides EL&IC obv) than The Artist. It deserved its nomination, but it did not deserve the award. That is just what I think.
  • Drive should have won best picture.
